Purpose

News18Network uses verification practices to reduce factual errors and misleading presentation in news and informational content.

Verification Before Publication

Material factual claims should, where reasonably possible, be checked against reliable sources such as official statements, primary documents, institutional records, direct quotations, recognised experts or other relevant evidence.

Source Evaluation

We consider the origin, relevance, recency and credibility of information. A viral post, forwarded message, anonymous social-media claim or unverified screenshot should not by itself be treated as sufficient proof of a material factual claim.

Multiple Sources

For disputed or consequential claims, we aim to seek corroboration from more than one reliable source when practical. Primary and official sources are preferred where they directly address the claim.

Images, Video and Social Media

Visual and social-media material should be considered in context before being presented as evidence. Available information about source, date, location and surrounding circumstances should be reviewed when authenticity or context is uncertain.

High-Impact Claims

Health, safety, financial, legal and other high-impact claims require additional care. We aim to rely on authoritative or appropriately qualified sources and avoid presenting unsupported remedies, guarantees or potentially harmful claims as established facts.

Corrections

If reliable evidence shows that a published factual claim is materially incorrect, it should be corrected in accordance with our Corrections Policy.
